To delete your Instagram account permanently, follow these steps:
On a Web Browser (Recommended)

Go to the Delete Account Page:

Visit Instagram's account deletion page (you must be logged in).

Select a Reason:

Choose a reason from the dropdown menu for why you’re deleting your account.

Re-enter Your Password:

Instagram requires you to confirm your identity by entering your password again.

Click "Delete":

Your account will be deactivated immediately and permanently deleted after 30 days.

On Mobile App (iPhone & Android)

Open the Instagram app and go to your profile.

Tap the menu (☰) > Settings and privacy > Accounts Center.

Tap Personal details > Account ownership and control.

Select Deactivation or deletion > Choose your account.

Tap Delete account, then follow the prompts.
💡 Note: If you only want a break, you can temporarily deactivate your account instead. Your profile and posts will be hidden until you log in again.
